The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Amidst
the horrible stone gargoyles of Notre Dame cathedral lurks the
hideous monster Quasimodo—a tragically disfigured creature
whose only relief from his tortured existence is his torturous love
for the beautiful gypsy Esmerelda. Portrayed by the legendary
Lon Chaney Sr., the repulsive hunchback suffers nobly to protect
the object of his affection from the lust and cruelty of his master.
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
This shadowy, impressionistic film is considered one of the best of its era. One
evening two friends decide to attend a small carnival and
encounter the mysterious fiend Dr. Caligari and his corpse-like
assistant Cesare (eerily played by Conrad Veidt). When Cesare
chillingly predicts the death of one of the friends they are
plunged into a twisted world of insanity and murder. |
