It takes heat to forge the steel of heroism and no
flames burn hotter than the fires of war. These are the
stories of common men with the courage and strength
to fight and die for the American ideals of Freedom and
Liberty. Stories of friendship and comradery punctuated
with sudden danger and exciting action set against the
sweeping backdrop of World War II Europe.
A Walk In The Sun Dana Andrews delivers a bravura performance as Sgt. Tyne, a squad leader
who suddenly finds himself in charge of an entire platoon on a dangerous mission through the Italian
countryside. This gritty and realistic film makes great use of a strong cast to portray the random
chaos of war and the deep bonds of friendship that form between men in battle. A true masterpiece
of wartime fiction from the director of All Quiet on the Western Front and Pork Chop Hill.
Go For Broke During World War II, Japanese Americans (Nisei) were rounded up and interred in camps.
This film follows the exploits of the 442 Regimental Combat Team, an all Nisei group of volunteers from the
camps, out to prove their loyalty as American Citizens. Van Johnson stars as the bigoted white leader who
learns to respect and understand the Nisei, who formed one of the most decorated battalions in American
military history. This film received Academy Award nominations for Best Story and Best Screenplay. |
